Are you ready for summer?

What are your favorite summer time activities? Reading is one I hope? Going to the lake? Picnics? Movies? When I was a kid I loved summers. I slept in late, read books, went to the swimming pool and played Batmitton with my friends. As an adult sleeping late was no longer an option and I’m more of a snow bunny than a bathing suit model, but books have always been there and always will be. I love to read.
When I’m working the day job I do my reading and writing during the evenings and weekends. Except for Tuesday, when I like to watch NCIS. There is usually a book by my bed so I can read a little and turn off the day. That same book will migrate to the table for lunch and dinner. It takes me about a week to read a book, unless it’s a tome, in which case it might be 2 weeks.
May I recommend some fun reads for summer: Anything by Dorothea Benton Frank, Janet Evanovich, Nancy Pickard or Jennifer Crusie. If you’re interested in mysteries: Alafair Burke, Jan Burke, Sue Grafton and Sara Paretsky work well. For a good western you can’t beat Louis L’Amour. Historicals: Sandra Dallas is good. And don’t forget B.D. Tharp and Feisty Family Values – PLEASE! Ask your local bookstore clerk what they recommend, because there are way too many fabulous authors out there for me to remember and name. Happy summer!
