Last night I had the pleasure of reading and signing Feisty Family Values (FFV) at the Haysville Community Library (HCL). It was a small group, because last night was also graduation and the mother/daughter dinner at a couple of the churches. It didn’t matter. We all sat around one table and talked about FFV, writing, reading, history and our favorite authors. We even talked a little bit about the economy, but not a lot.
Betty Cattrell (Director) and Ken Bell were fabulous hosts, making me feel very comfortable at the HCL. Kitty and Jim were attentive readers who seemed to appreciate the attention I was able to give them. Kitty took one of the HCL copies of Feisty Family Values home to read and Betty shared how much she enjoyed the copy I dropped by the library a couple of weeks ago. It doesn’t get much better than that, or so I thought.
Before I left Betty & Ken shared information about the Kansas Center for the Book, the Kansas Notable Book and the 150 Kansas Best Books being nominated now for the Sesquicentennial. Today I sent a copy of Feisty Family Values to the KCFB and hope it will make it into the 150 or as one of the Kansas Notable books. If you would like to nominate FFV just go to http://www.kcfb.info. Enjoy the writing journey, I’ll see you along the way.
A lifetime resident of Kansas, B.D. Tharp is the author of Feisty Family Values, published by Five Star Publishing in February 2010.
